Please excuse our appearance as we update our website!

From the Commanding Officer

346 (Tynemouth) Squadron has a long and distinguished history. Since our formation in February 1941, we have been constantly recognised as one of the most successful Squadrons in our area, and since taking command in 2019 it has been my aim to continue to uphold that reputation by delivering the best possible Air Cadet experience to each and every one of our cadets.

Over the past 12 months, the Squadron has invested heavily in new training equipment, such as IT, flight simulators, and STEM-based leadership equipment, as we continually strive to be the best.

However, it’s not just our facilities that make us great. I am proud to say I lead a dedicated team of volunteer staff who each share the three main aims of the RAF Air Cadets:

  • To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
  • To provide training which will be useful in both the Armed Forces and civilian life.
  • To foster a spirit of adventure and to develop the qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

As part of the wider Royal Air Force, being a member of the RAF Air Cadets as either a cadet or adult volunteer opens up a myriad of rewarding opportunities, many of which you can’t experience elsewhere. So please, take a look around our website and see for yourselves the many exciting activities 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron’s cadets and staff get involved in!
