Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

If you’re interested in joining the Air Cadets then chances are you’re the sort of person who’s up for a challenge.

We’re keen supporters of the Duke of Edinburgh Award here at 346 (Tynemouth) Squadron.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s programme of activities is aimed at young people over 14 with the aim of building self-confidence and developing skills that will be invaluable both to you and the community.

We’re talking about things like:

• Volunteering – making a difference to other people’s lives
• Physical – improving your fitness and well-being
• Skills – trying something new, gaining new talents and finding new interests
• Expeditions – going on outdoor adventures both here in the UK and even abroad that test your ingenuity and stamina

There are three levels to go for, bronze, silver and gold.

Gold is obviously the hardest to get and will really test your mettle as you could find yourself travelling to another country to work with other people on projects.

But at the end of it you will have successfully gained one of the leading achievement awards for young people that is recognised by universities and employers alike.
